Patricia A. Madsen

 

Patricia Madsen’s legal practice is now focused primarily on water transactions and water rights litigation. She also has experience with proceedings before the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board, family law, and state and federal civil litigation.  She has provided legal services for the City and County of Broomfield, High Plains, Perry Park Country Club, and the City of Black Hawk, and managed cases in Colorado Water Court, Divisions 1 and 5, Colorado District Courts in Arapahoe, Denver, El Paso, Jefferson, and Weld Counties, and on appeals before the Colorado Supreme Court, Colorado Court of Appeals, United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans’ Claims.

Ms. Madsen served two terms as a judge of the Denver County Court, where she still sits pro tem. Before becoming Special Counsel to Duncan, Ostrander & Dingess, she practiced of counsel to the Law Office of Marshall Brodsky, Roger L. Keithley, Jeanne L. Busacca, and, most recently, Harvey W. Curtis & Associates.

 After undergraduate work at Brandeis University and the University Without Walls Program at Loretto Heights College, Ms. Madsen earned her J.D. from the University of Denver in 1976 and was a Clinical Fellow at the Antioch College School of Law.  She has served as a NITA instructor, written for The Colorado Lawyer and the University of Denver Water Law Review, and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, and the Inter-American Bar Association.
